We all love our furniture, but maintenance and care of furniture is equally important. We can give a long life to our furnitures by caring for it early and properly. Knowing about the do’s and dont’s in case of handeling furniture is neccessary. Lets talk about the maintenance of varnished wood as it is the most common surface available in furnitures. Though varnish finish is durable and easy to care but still little bit of regular care will make it shine as new forever.

- Avoid contact from water, alcohol, food or cosmetics as these things can damage the surface and shine of the furniture.
- Dust it everyday with a dry, soft, lint free cloth does the job better. This will help increasing the shine of the furniture piece too.
- Applying a coat of paste wax around once in a year, helps wood and protect it from dust and moisture. Overdoing of paste wax can result in wax buildup, use damp cloth along with mineral spirits or synthetic turpentine.
- If there is a task of removing any sticky stuff from the surface, remove with the help of damp cloth followed by dry cotton cloth for better results. Do not leave that damp cloth lying on the surface for long.
- If furniture is too soily, can be washed and dried in sun but only sometimes in extreme cases, but first test in an inconspicuous area.
- Polish can be used to give your furniture shine, but avoid using polish very often as overuse can cause buildup.
